M.A. in Museum Studies

In an era of increased globalization, digitalization, and collaboration, museums have evolved into important and vital sites for community engagement and public dialogue. The University of San Francisco offers a unique Master’s degree in Museum Studies that prepares its graduates for positions of leadership in artistic, cultural, and heritage organizations operating within the constantly changing social landscape.

Courses in the program focus on design and curatorial practice; education and new technologies; conversation and heritage preservation; and arts and cultural management, financial management, and project management. Students integrate and apply knowledge from a variety of disciplines in order to analyze global issues that concern today’s museums – from equality and diversity to social justice and human rights.
