1.1 Terms of Use

The University of San Francisco encourages the use of this site as a way to share information and knowledge in support of the University's mission.

1.2 Limitations of Use

A person visiting this site may download material, if applicable, only for his or her own personal, non-commercial use, and may not otherwise copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, commercially exploit or otherwise transfer any material.

1.3 Technology Resources Appropriate Use Policy

All use of this site, including posting of content, if applicable, must comply with the USF Technology Resources Appropriate Use Policy.

1.4 Commercial Use and Advertising

As the USF Technology Resources Appropriate Usage Policy states: Users may not use USF technology resources for commercial purposes without the prior written approval of the Vice President for Business and Finance In the case of the this site, commercial advertising includes, but it not limited to, banner ads, corporate logos, and product endorsements.

1.5 Privacy

This site collects information to improve functionality and content and to monitor performance. Data is used to help answer specific questions about the usage and performance of the Web site or individual Web pages. Our Web site logs are not personally identifiable, and USF makes no attempt to link them with the individuals that actually browse the site. USF does not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease any personal information collected via the site.

1.5.1 Student Information Disclosure

The disclosure of information from student records is governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The University highly respects the privacy of its students. Educational records include, but are not limited to, grade reports, transcripts, most disciplinary records, student schedules, class lists, health records, student employment records, and generally any personally identifiable information.

1.6 Content

Consistent with its policies and regulations, USF upholds the principles of academic freedom, freedom of speech, and privacy in the use of electronic resources by its faculty, students, and staff. USF’s Web presence contains official pages in support of the University's mission, educational programs, and/or related administrative business. It also contains Web pages generated by groups or individuals whose expressed views do not necessarily represent the views of USF. Sites may include unmoderated forums containing the personal opinions and other expressions of the persons who post entries on a wide range of topics. Neither the content of these pages, nor the links to other Web sites, are screened, approved, reviewed or endorsed by USF.

The USF Web site may include hyperlinks to Web sites maintained or controlled by others. USF is not responsible for and does not routinely screen, approve, review or endorse the content of or use of any of the information, products or services that may be offered at these Web sites or the organizations that own or control the Web sites.

USF does not warrant, and hereby disclaims any warranties, either express or implied, with respect to the accuracy, adequacy or completeness of any site, information obtained from a site, or link to a site. USF does not warrant that sites will operate in an uninterrupted or error-free manner or that sites are free of viruses or other harmful components.
